چکیده

Novel data-acquisition technologies have revolutionized the study of natural systems, allowing massive collection information in situ and remotely. Merging these improves understanding complex hydrological interactions, such as those wetland–aquifer facilitates their conservation management. This paper presents combination UAV technology with water level dataloggers for a coastal temporary wetland linked to an underlying sandy aquifer influenced by tidal regime. Wetland morphology was defined using imagery SfM algorithms during dry period. The DTM (6.9 cm resolution) used generate flood model, which subsequently validated orthophoto from wet combined stage records at 10-min intervals network infer balance transfers aquifer. Inflows into pond were around 6200 m3 (40% direct precipitation over pond, 60% surface runoff). Outputs equalled inputs (41% evaporation surface, 59% aquifer). proposed methodology has demonstrated its suitability unravel interactions provide reliable estimations elements balance.

Automated Battery Swap and Recharge to Enable Persistent UAV Missions

This paper introduces a hardware platform for automated battery changing and charging for multiple UAV agents. The automated station holds a buffer of 8 batteries in a novel dual-drum structure that enables a “hot” battery swap, thus allowing the vehicle to remain powered on throughout the battery changing process. Each drum consists of four battery bays, each of which is connected to a smartch...

Management of aquifer recharge in Lebanon by removing seawater intrusion from coastal aquifers.

This study investigates the feasibility of management of aquifer recharge (MAR) in Lebanon by designing well barriers to remove seawater intrusion from the fractured carbonate aquifers. Groundwater flow and saltwater/freshwater 50% sharp interface have been modeled along the coastal area using the Ghyben-Herzberg theory. The groundwater flow simulations have been supported by field transmissivi...

Soil surface roughness quantification using DEM obtained from UAV photogrammetry

The soil surface roughness is one of the most susceptible to variation in time and space characteristic, and depends on many variables like cultivation practices or soil aggregation. Various indices are used for its quantification, in microscale soil roughness is commonly expressed by HSD calculated from DEM of small sample area. The source of DEM can be close range photogramethry or laser scan...

Design and Testing of Recharge Wells in a Coastal Aquifer: Summary of Field Scale Pilot Tests

Surplus water from seawater desalination plants along the Israeli Coast can be injected underground for seasonal storage. Two pilot projects were established to simulate the movement of air bubbles and changes in the well hydraulic parameters during pumping and recharging. The study showed that it is impossible to remove the smaller air bubbles (dissolved air) that are created during the inject...

An Integrated Procedure to Assess the Stability of Coastal Rocky Cliffs: From UAV Close-Range Photogrammetry to Geomechanical Finite Element Modeling

The present paper explores the combination of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry and three-dimensional geomechanical modeling in the investigation of instability processes of long sectors of coastal rocky cliffs. The need of a reliable and detailed reconstruction of the geometry of the cliff surfaces, beside the geomechanical characterization of the rock materials, could epresent a ve...
